Description

This Apple Fritter Bread is a cozy, sweet loaf swirled with juicy apples and cinnamon—just like your favorite fritter, but in easy-to-bake bread form. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert, this recipe brings comfort with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free alternative)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large apples (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar (for apples)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for apples)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 23 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment.
  2. Peel and chop apples. Toss with 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour and baking powder. Gradually add to butter mix, alternating with milk.
  5. Pour half the batter into loaf pan. Layer with half the apple mixture and sprinkle with half of the brown sugar–cinnamon mix.
  6. Repeat with remaining batter, apples, and sugar–cinnamon. Swirl with a knife.
  7. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes, then remove from pan.
  8. Mix powdered sugar with 2–3 tbsp milk for glaze. Drizzle over cooled bread and let set.

Notes

Use firm apples like Granny Smith for the best texture. Avoid overmixing for a tender crumb. Test doneness with a toothpick and cover with foil if top browns too quickly.
